India's central government is set to launch a native web browser to make India 'self-reliant'. For this purpose they have announced a program named 'Indian Web Browser Development Challenge'. The program will create a 'Made-in-India' search engine to compete with foreign web browsers.

In this regard, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India and its affiliated departments are responsible for managing and monitoring this newly announced program. After all, it is known that the ministry is going to bear all the expenses of this open challenge.

The most significant news is that a cash prize of Rs. 3.4 crore has also been announced for the winner of the challenge. But since this is an important initiative, the web browsers created by the developers have to get approval from the 'Controller of Certifying Authorities' in India.
